Revised Solid Waste Rates Effective February 1, 2014
The City of Reedley's solid waste disposal rate for a single family dwelling will increase by $0.75 on February 1, 2014. This small increase is based on the 10-year rolling average of the Consumer Price Index. This formula was established by the City Council in 2009, and allows the utilities to keep pace with inflationary increases in operations and maintenance costs, such as increases in the County landfill fees and diesel costs. By annually increasing the rates at a small level according to the 10-year rolling CPI average, it allows the City to avoid sporadic large increases that would put a hardship on residents. The City's commitment to this formula has also led to the City receiving a positive credit rating upgrade this past year, reflecting the financial industry's positive view of Reedley's stable financial future. Additional information regarding specific changes to all Solid Waste rates can be found in the Citywide Master Fee Schedule.
